Tumbarumba is a cool climate region of New South Wales, planted in the foothills of the Snowy Mountain Range. Originally seen as as an area for sparkling grapes, it is no surprise that Chardonnay is a star from the region.
Hungerford Hill, Chardonnay, Tumbarumba, 2017
Almost 3 years of age yet with a youthful green hint to the colour. Layered aromas of creamy lees and barrel work (20% new French oak) over pure, crisp white stone fruit and citrus with nutty wild ferment edge. Medium-full palate, yet still restrained and corseted: potential for ageing is pronounced with regional energetic pulsating acidity. A solid release.
