So named for the Mataro Vineyard that is located what was Shingleback’s original homestead’s kitchen garden. Plenty of gold medals for this one including at Royals Sydney and Queensland Wine Shows.
Shingleback, Kitchen Garden, Mataro, McLaren Vale, 2017
Highly perfumed. Anise, dark chocolate, blackberry, leather, spearmint, leafy bramble with light tobacco ash and even a little “bubblegum.” Medium full bodied and slick with tacky, almost chewy tannins. This is a dark, tight and brooding experience liberally supported by bitter anise kitchen herbs across the top.
