Touriga Nacional is more associated with Portugal than New South Wales. Touriga is more attributed to fortified wine production but has a strong history of producing interesting table wines. The fruit sourced from the De Iuliis vineyard on Lovedale Rd in the Hunter Valley. Aged in old French Oak for 12 months.
Grandis Wines, Unearthed, Touriga Nacional, Hunter Valley 2018
Bruise purple with bright rim. Fleshy nose of violets, exotic spice, marshmallow, bath talc, rosewater, cherry halves, boysenberry and bitter herbal twang. Medium full bodied with adamant, spreading tannins underpinning an at times, almost delicate fruit structure. Cheeky bright lift to a fanning dark wine gum flavour tail with tea-towel flick of anise. Tasty And Fun.
