An “Australian” blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62%) and Shiraz (38%). Maturation in French and American oak.
Tahbilk, Old Vines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Nagambie, 2016
Deep garnet hue. Swathes of blackberry and small red plum fruit with light mint and fresh bay leaf. There’s richness with plenty of chocolate/mocha, fresh earth and cedary oak. Medium-full palate. Good depth of black fruit plus savoury earth and herbs. Ruggedly handsome with rustic tannins that support rather than dominate. Under screwcap, so there’s going to be plenty of time to enjoy this one.
