I’ve been fortunate to have been able to put a two of the Victorian Pyrenees wine region’s better known producers side by side in the last couple of weeks, which includes Taltarni, on an upward trajectory of quality.
Taltarni, Estate, Shiraz, Pyrenees, 2018
Soft coconut ice and floral lift with plenty of cool climate white pepper. Rich plum sauce, plum juice, mulberry with a hint of green stalk, liptstick/candle waxy note before just smoky oak with a hint of polished side board. Silky smooth palate with tight, fine grained tannins, focused dark fruit and a deliciously balanced long tail of flavour. Dark and delectable.
RRP: $40
