The rosier sibling to Dirt Candy’s The White Knight Pétillant Naturel This one sees Hunter Valley staples of Chardonnay, Semillon, Verdelho and Shiraz..
Dirt Candy Wine, The Pink Panther, Pétillant Naturel, Hunter Valley, 2020
Soft fairy floss/marshmallow pink (not as bright as the bottle image makes it to be) but holding a proper pet nat soupy turbid quality. Peaches, red currant, mineral water, singed lemon zest and green melon. Light mousse, the palate almost dissolves/aerates as the spritzy effervescence does its job. There’s a touch of dark yeastiness in the tail (as to be expected with plenty of sediment from the pet nat process). The young Hunter acidity keeps it zinging along. This is not for thinking…..just for drinking.
