Sourced from the Filsell vineyard’s near centurion old vines planted 1920 in the Barossa. Winemaker Craig Stansborough is super excited about the quality of the 2018 vintage, saying the wines are “showing vibrancy” and are “destined to be long lived.”
Grant Burge, Filsell, Shiraz, Barossa, 2018
A varietal highlight reel: Bright red plum fruit, elements of blueberry, some strap liquorice , Christmas baking spices and a modicum of vanilla/choc oak. Wonderfully balanced from the outset. Persistence from go to whoa. The tannins are fine and even and underline that this is great drinking now or anytime over the next 15 years
