Dalrymple Single Site Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2017

One of three single site wines for Dalrymple, sourcing fruit from excellent plots away from their home base of Pipers River in the north east of Tasmania. This one taken from the Coal River Valley, in the mid-south of Tasmania, just outside the state capital of Hobart. The vineyard was planted in the 1990s, faces north-east and is managed biodynamically.

Dalrymple, Single Site, Coal River Valley, Pinot Noir, Tasmania, 2017

Soft raspberry and fleshy cherry red fruit and almost blackberry dark. With peaty smoky, forest undergrowth. Stalky thyme and bitter chinotto-like herbs, woody cloves, just and just sliced charcuterie. A tale of quality flesh waiting to fit the structural frame. The crumbly tannins gather at the front of the palate and are focused in their intent, almost acting as shield. While the finish is resplendent with light and shade: dark herb characters and bright acidity.
