Maretti, Sangiovese, Chianti, 2019
The front label mentions Cabernet but I’m not so sure. Slightly soupy complexion, rustic nose of macerating cherry, ageing rose petals, brambly herb garden, red apple and a touch of rusticity coming through. Medium bodied palate with easy light red summer fruits, little rumbles of fine tannin, a little tart acidity and a clean finish. Simple on its own, but perfect with any sort of tomato based pasta sauce or salumi platter.
