TarraWarra Estate Nebbiolo 2017

This will be the last vintage of this label until after the 2021 season, as the vineyard had to be replanted due to Phylloxera after this vintage. 30 days on skins. Aged for 16 months in old French oak puncheons (500l). The evocative label a representation of Thornton Walker‘s “Composition with 2 Trees.”

TarraWarra Estate, Nebbiolo, Yarra Valley, 2017

The wine presents as a light bricking-red in the glass as Nebbiolo is wont to do. Fragrant with varietal deep rose, earthy bluestone gravel and bitumen, smoked turkey meatiness and with an effect of soft old wood spice. Fine meshed tannin wraps tight around a medium palate with late intensity that serves as a reminder to allow a few more years in the cellar.
