Quiet Mutiny is Tasmanian winemaker Greer Carland’s own label. Charlotte Badger is the heroine of the Quiet Mutiny story and the good ship Venus was the ship she took command of. This edition of the Pinot already has several weighty gold stickers on the front.
Quiet Mutiny, Venus Rising, Pinot Noir, Coal Valley, 2018
20% whole bunch and 22% new French oak. Powerfully fragrant, deep and lifted at the same time. Showing solid “pinosity” with layered forest floor and chunky berry/cherry giving a liqueur sweetness. French oak delivery of cedary tones and highlighted with soft crushed kitchen herbs a touch of ground brown spice. There’s a boldness to the framing and depth to the palate while remaining elegantly etched. Very good value.
