A big jump in alcohol from the excellent 2019 Riesling, but no change in price. Still marked as “Dry” on the sweetness scale on the rear label. Winemaker is the talented Rob Diletti.
Castle Rock Estate, Riesling, Porongurup, 2020
Hyper fragrant. Intense lime (running the spectrum from zest to juice to granita) and lemon blossom, with tropical edge fresh shaved coconut flesh, light lavender flower, a touch of fly-spray and wet stony-rock garden “minerality.” Offering a bigger frame than previous years, with lime flesh and almost grapefruit citrus richness providing body before usual programming returns with intense tightness and length. I’d happily drink the 2020 over the next few years while giving the 2019 some space and time.
RRP: $25
Alc: 12.4%
Rating: 18.75/20 (94/100)
