Tyrrell’s Rufus Stone Shiraz 2019

This release marks the 25th vintage release of this label from Tyrrell’s, recognising Heathcote’s potential for growing quality Shiraz.

Tyrrell’s, Rufus Stone, Shiraz, Heathcote, 2019

Medium garnet with a bright rim. Big plump mulberry aromas (reminding me of the mulberry tree on the farm I lived on in Heathcote ironically) with bittersweet chocolate, just opened white pepper, stony “mineral” hints and spicy fresh oak all leading to a familiar, comforting, varietal approach. Lovely mod Oz Shiraz weight to the fruit with bright simple joy and fine tannins. A little sting in the tail with some warmth at the end but that’s what you signed up for. Good persistence through the tail. Familiar, comforting.

RRP: $25
Alc: 14.7%
Rating: 17.75/20 (91/100)
