Tyrrell’s, Rufus Stone, Shiraz, Heathcote, 2019
Medium garnet with a bright rim. Big plump mulberry aromas (reminding me of the mulberry tree on the farm I lived on in Heathcote ironically) with bittersweet chocolate, just opened white pepper, stony “mineral” hints and spicy fresh oak all leading to a familiar, comforting, varietal approach. Lovely mod Oz Shiraz weight to the fruit with bright simple joy and fine tannins. A little sting in the tail with some warmth at the end but that’s what you signed up for. Good persistence through the tail. Familiar, comforting.
