Such a contrasting vintage from the previous three. With winter and spring growing season one of the wettest in the last decade, moving into a warm, even dry new year and harvest meant a (relatively) stress free vintage for the team at Tyrrell’s. This Fiano was the last white grape to be harvested, coming from 2 parcels in the Broke Fordwich sub region of the Hunter. Stainless steel ferment for freshness.
Tyrrell’s, Special Release, Fiano, Hunter Valley, 2021
Summer days nose of pear slices, white flowers, torn salad leaves and lemony citrus. A little creamy, cheese slice undertone from some of the ferment being left on its solids. Enough grip and weight to balance pinging acidity, all topped off with inherent freshness and adaptability. Pair with just out of the fryer fish tacos in fresh, soft wraps.
