Mercer Wines Nero 2021

Nero. Roman emperor. Also a popular EDM  group from the UK. Also means black in Italian. Nero d’Avola is arguably the most important red grape on the island of Sicily. Here Aaron Mercer takes fruit from an organically grown vineyard from Canowindra in the Central West of NSW

Mercer Wines, Nero d’Avola, Canowindra, 2021

MercerNerodAvola

Plenty of fragrant cherry and leafyness with raspberry, waxy lipstick, ferrous blood, camphor, just lit campfire smoke and a touch licorice/anise. Hedonistic suppleness carrying plenty of the licorice and (almost medicinal/cough syrup) cherry with an inherent sweetness of just over done toffee. The tannins are fine, dry and tight, like a knot at the end of a button thread. Lingering piquant clove spice and plenty of dark enjoyment.

RRP: $30
Alc: 14%
