Praise be, the excellent marketing folk have made sure that everything old is new again with the release of the 2019 Galway Shiraz and recreating the old label from the original, first release in 1943 (yep, during WW2….and you thought releasing a wine during a global pandemic was tough!).
Winemaker is the strapping Marc van Halderen.
Yalumba, Galway Vintage, Shiraz, Barossa, 2019
Stays true to its roots: Barossa purple plum fruit alongside darker black pastille, boysenberry, easy pepper spice, sesame oil and creamy mocha. Sits as a balanced, mid weight, near-textbook of fruit forward Barossa Shiraz. Fine sandy tannins and bright, alive fruit. No overt oak or trickery, just a sense of ease in its own skin. No need to overthink it, just enjoy a glass.
RRP: $19
Alc: 14.5%
Rating: 17.5 (90/100)
