Potentially the only blend of these two grapes in Australia, if not the world. Not made every vintage.
d’Arenberg, The Conscious Biosphere, Petit Sirah, Aglianico, McLaren Vale, 2018
Ohh, this is different. No holds barred: There’s inky and dark red fruit with an earthy tar/bitumen base, crushed purple flowers, plenty of blood plum, melted dark chocolate, roast nuts and a cooling herbaceous/kitchen herb whisper. Structural, serious and a little roguish with a spread of firm, drying, raw tannins like rusty nails and some surprisingly intense, puckering acidity with glass staining tendencies.
