This is the last vintage to be made by Peter Althaus after passing custodianship of Domaine A to Moorilla’s owner David Walsh in the same year. Named after Peter Althaus’ wife Ruth, this is arguably one of, if not the most complex of Sauvignon Blancs in Australia. Worked, Bordeaux styling with inescapable Tasmanian signature acidity. Under cork, but in the right conditions will easily last for 15 years or more.
Domaine A, Lady A, Sauvignon Blanc, Coal Valley, 2018
Nectarine and cashew cream influence with subdued oak over green lines of melon, passionfruit and ageing straw bale. Harmonious and glorious. Intensity and vibrancy dancing with some raspy grip from oak and textural barrel notes. Fine currents of acidity crackle through the long, long finish. An excellent wine of finesse and elegance.
