An unfamiliar variety here in Oz, made from Gaglioppo from the clay and lime stone soils of Cirò Marina in Calabria, Italy. Under cork.
Segno Librandi, Cirò, Rosso, DOC, 2020
Black cherry and raspberry fruit. Creamy oak influence, some briny coastal stony/oyster shell inflections, blu tac and boysenberry ice cream cone. Nothing too complex, but the right amount of “rustic twang.” Juicy and fruit driven with the right amount of tight rumbly tannin screaming for tomato based pasta or a fatty salumi platter. Don’t think, serve up.
