From a single bush vine vineyard, Jericho, in Blewitt Springs, planted in 1950 on Maslin sands of the Eocene period (~50m years old). Made by Ben Riggs.
Clandestine Vineyards, Hearts & Minds, Grenache, McLaren Vale, 2021
Deep garnet. Inky and fruity nose, showing plenty of varietal bent. “Pencil Eraser,” crushed kitchen herbs, deep raspberry, “taco seasoning” spice, ferrous bloody depth and touch of strap licorice and leather. Generous and slick palate. Plentiful layers and fruit opulence. Tightens up towards the finish with firm, fly screen tannins wrapping the ride. Certainly one for the hedonists.
