Domaine A, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coal River Valley, 2012
Ten years old and still deep purple with a bright edge. Deep and layered with potpourri, blackberry conserve, a suggestion of animal, delicate chocolate leaf, turned earth, bresaola and moist pouch tobacco. Supple and fine. Medium in structure and elegant in standing. Tannins are tightly knitted and in support of a long, dark fruit finish. Unsuspecting acidity like a concealed stiletto. Considering the history and pedigree of this wine, it seems underpriced for a piece of vinous history.
