Here we go again. The 2019 release of a mainstay and finally there’s a price increase. But don’t panic, it’s still at steal at $22.

d’Arenberg, The Footbolt, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2019

Soft, comforting woody spice, ripe plum flesh, raspberry jus, cool McLaren mineral spine, a touch of coconut toast and perfumed purple florals. Still medium to full: cool, plush red fruit with steely edges, but comforting with familiarity and gentle tannins. It’s a warm hug, a set of flannel sheets on a cool night. Solid and reliable yet again.
