Dylan McMahon of Seville Estate in the Yarra Valley and Matt Burton of Gundog Estate (Hunter Valley and Canberra) are Burton McMahon. The D’Aloisio vineyard is located in the township of Seville in the Yarra.
Hand picked and the wine naturally fermented, this was picked a week earlier than sibling George’s for this vintage. Maturation in French oak (30% new) for 10 months. Bottle image is of 2018, but nought else is different.
Burton McMahon, D’Aloisio’s Vineyard, Chardonnay, Yarra Valley, 2021
Deft richness with subtle orange/mandarin citrus and white stone fruit with calm, assuring saline edges, a touch of creamy funk over easy nutty influence. Some generosity through the elegant palate with a brighter fruit spotlight on the fruit than the George’s, complementing a citrus driven, refined acidity. Class is evident and will continue to show for several years.
