Brokenwood Verona Vineyard Shiraz 2019

The Verona vineyard is just over the road from the legendary Graveyard vineyard in the heart of Pokolbin. Planted in 1968 from old cuttings of several vineyards. This is the 7th release of the label while Brokenwood have been custodians of the vineyard for the past 17 years. No new oak (two year old Francois Foudre and French oak puncheons).

Brokenwood, Verona Vineyard, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2019

VeronaVineyard_DV copy

Deep garnet colour with an ermine rim. Just earthy with leafy (not green) aromas, dark chocolate, gun flint, loganberry, some meaty depth and piquant spice. Comfortable and balanced. Drying, dusty Hunter elegant base with fleshy mid tiers and bright top notes. Length and focus. The overall impression is one silkiness and complexity.

RRP: $100
