From the famed Menzies Vineyard in the heart of Coonawarra, part of the (incredibly well priced) Rare and Fine series from Yalumba. The wine started its life under long time Yalumba Coonawarra winemaker Natalie Cleghorn (now of Katnook Estate) before being finished by equally long time Yalumba winemaker Heather Fraser.

Deep profound aromas with full violets and ripe, plump blueberries. Cigar ash and damp young eucalypt, new asphalt, salted chocolate and spiced cedary oak. A full wine of elegance, restraint and undeniable power like a thoroughbred being reined in tight. Tannins meshed perfectly with a cocoa powdery and precise black finish. Will sit quietly and patiently for many years yet.
