Côte Rôtie via Rowland Flat. A 2% splash of Viognier for style, emphasis and lift.
Torbreck, RunRig, Shiraz, Barossa, 2018
Thrumming purple with thick viscous legs. Intense, layered and floral. So much happening: crushed violets and licorice over dense plum flesh, just carved coconut, rich chocolatey oak, malt flakes, blueberry pulp, blackberry flesh, anise spice, blood with vanilla tinges and dried apricot halves. Viscous, opulent, concentrated and dense. Powerhouse fruit profile that demands full focus yet still displays attention to detail with obvious energy pulsing through lingering dark fruits and herbs. Persistence, balance and sublime tannins that click into place. Easily a 20 year option.
