Well known value for money Oxford Landing have recently rebranded their labels, representing Oxford Landing’s home on the banks of the Murray River with the logo depicting the sun over the water. And yes, unlike many other “estate” names for budget wines, Oxford Landing Estates, part of the Hill Smith Family Vineyards (think Yalumba) stable, is a real place. Winemaker is Andy La Nauze. The winemaking is vegan friendly.
Oxford Landing, Sauvignon Blanc, Riverland, 2022
Gives you everything you want from the label at the price. There’s passionfruit, gooseberry, lime zest, dewy grass, melon, bramble and a smoky earthiness. Not meaning to be complicated. The freshness and vibrancy is well balanced, if a little short. Match with a crisp summer salad of cool spiral pasta and peas.
Rating: 17/20 (88/100)
