Gundog Estate Indomitus Rutilus 2021

Matt Burton has a tweak for this, a 20% inclusion of Pinot Noir from Seville Estate in the Yarra Valley. A tribute to the Shiraz/Pinot Noir blends from the influential Maurice O’Shea in the early years of the Hunter Valley.

Gundog Estate, Indomitus Rutilus, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Hunter and Yarra Valleys, 2021

Warming spice and aromatic. Comforting flannel, hard stalky spice, black cherry, asphalt, red plums, dust, hints of lavender, Dutch licorice, sweaty leather, composting forest floor (in a good way) and roast tomato. Silky smooth, gliding like satin, the front palate exposes itself to ultimately show a dry, savoury and tight tail. Fragrant leafy herbal lift and hyper fine tannins. A unique and well priced offering.
