A shift in bottling to screwcap and subsequently a drop in the price (bottle image below is the same label, but squint your eyes and imagine a screwcap). Continues to be made with 20% in new French oak and the remainder in older large format barrel. The winemaker is Corey Ryan. Certified Organic and Vegan Friendly winemaking if that’s your thing.
Farm Hand Wines, One Of A Kind, Sangiovese, McLaren Vale, 2022
Medium deep ruby with bright purple edges. Plenty of fragrant and floral aromas with crunchy red fruits of cherries and cranberries lifted by an English rose heart. Grounded through pickled jalapeños, new leather, dried kitchen herbs, flaxseed and sprays of McLaren Vale’s minerally, saline driven soils. Crunchy and bright with enough puckering acidity and raspy tannins to cleanse the lepre ragu from your pappardelle. Nothing overtly complex but a no brainer for the local Italian eatery.
