*because if Barossa Shiraz is good and Barossa Cabernet is good….then blending them makes it Super!
50/50 split of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from Rohrlach and Dorrien. Winemakers are the usual suspects Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and Theo Engela, joined by the cool suaveness (in a sockless loafer kind of way) of Huon Fechner.
Chaffey Bros Wine Co, SUPERBAROSSA, Cabernet, Shiraz. Barossa, 2020
Ermine purple with bright rim. Choc/mocha, pink salt, blood plum, cabbage rose heart, big day old raspberries, cassis to blackberry and even some fresh bay leaf aromatics. Feels Cabernet dominant (even with the even split) with tight, fine, velvety tannins and a herbaceous (but not green) echo. Plenty of ripe dark fruit flesh to satisfy those seeking opulence rather than anemia. Maybe could even do a couple of years in the cellar.
