Made by Jean-Claude Mas of Arrogant Frog fame, part of the Le Fleur collection. Bottled under vinolok™ glass stopper. Clear glass, embossed with the flowers that border the vineyard, which was planted on the old saltwater marsh of Marseillette in the Languedoc. Majority of the wine is aged for 4 months on lees in stainless steel (with regular lees stirring), while 5% was aged in French barrels for 4 months. Available here in Australia via Dan Murphy’s.
Jean-Claude Mas, Le Sauvignon Blanc, IGP Pays d’Oc, 2020
Soft yellow hue. Creamy, cheesy funk from the lees work hits first, followed by some tinned tropical fruit, young asparagus spears, preserved lemon citrus, mushy peas, older green capsicum, nut butter and weathered hay bale. Offering up sharp citrus off set by creamy, rounder nuances with some earthy undertones, this SB carries some weight before a surprisingly quick finish. Clean and best served cold and pad kra pao take away.
