From a single vineyard in the Sellicks Hill area of McLaren Vale. Winemaker is Renae Hirsch. Fermented mostly in stainless steel, with a transfer to 500L old oak puncheons towards the end of ferment. Barrel maturation for 6 months before blending to back to tank. There’s a little Roussanne snuck into the mix as well.
Allegiance Wines, Single Vineyard, Viognier, McLaren Vale, 2021
Pale lemon in hue. Aromatic white stone fruit, lemon pith, cookie dough, celery, ginger, green olive and green pear slices. Kept in a tight and linear shape through the palate. All nervy frame and dryness, missing a touch of richness that Viognier can have to give depth and balance. Served chilled and pair up with a big bowl of flash fried school prawns.
