While Calabria have blended Montepulciano and Nero D’Avola from the Barossa to make an attractive, food friendly (or not) new wave Italianate/Australian cuvee.
Calabria, Alternato, Montepulciano, Nero D’Avola, Barossa Valley, 2021
Deep garnet with bright rim. Floral cherry and strawberry dominate the nose with sweet bazaar spice, a touch of boysenberry ice cream, licorice, char and warm tea. Attractive and silky front palate: fleshy cherry moving with ease to show plentiful stringy tannins, echoing with dark spice and a little yeasty savoury nuance. A zesty crisp finish seals the deal.
