The original Pewsey Vale vineyard was planted in 1847, while fruit for the 1961 Block comes from the oldest (modern?) part of the vineyard. Handpicked, wild ferment and briefly matured on lees for texture. Winemaking royalty Louisa Rose’s signature appears in the space of ‘winemaker’. Presented in old school green glass and a silver screw cap as a retro nod.
Pewsey Vale, 1961 Block, Riesling, Eden Valley, 2024

Very pale lemon with a green highlight. Savoury undertones from the lees work, native and lime citrus blossoms, lime flesh, minerally clean chalk, fly spray/ozone and with a suggestion of fennel frond. The depth of the nose extends through the palate where it is well structured with intensity, focus and precision. Plenty of savoury drive to give counterpoint to the Estate with its musky nuances. The acid drive impeccable. Cellar-worthy.
