Fruit sourced from the Credaro’s premium Kyella vineyard in Wilyabrup. Winemaking sees wild fermentation. Nine months maturation in French oak (barriques and puncheons, around 30% new) with regular lees stirring. No malolactic fermentation and no fining. Winemakers are Cliff Royle and Paul Callaghan.
Credaro, 1000 Crowns, Chardonnay Margaret River, 2025
Pale lemon with green highlight. Opens a little reductive with struck match and plenty of cashew nut from the winemaking influence before a complex, layered and intriguing nose: balsa wood, white nectarine slices, white chocolate, white lilies, orange blossom, hints of dried fig, pineapple juice richness and toasty vanillin oak. A serious release with great length and a juicy finish to offset the richness. The palate full with leesy cheesy depth, yet retains finesse.
