Hungerford Hill Tempranillo 2015

Tempranillo’s spiritual home is in Spain where it forms a parcel of the great wines of Rioja. We’re booking tickets to Spain, so I’ll be drinking it over there before the year is out. Not to make you jealous. ¡Ole!

Hungerford Hill, Tempranillo, Tumbarumba 2015

Fun-time nose: Ripe strawberry, dark raspberry, plum skin, milk choc with a savoury slightly meaty undertone.  Sharp raspberry fruit pushes forward a medium bodied red and a little judicious lick of sweet oak. The savoury undertone from the nose runs beautifully like a basso continuo supporting the wine. Tannins are fine and favour pairing with lighter red meat dishes. Has the potential for cellaring, but more than likely one to be shared now.

RRP: $40
Alc 13.5% (or 12.5% depending upon which technical information you believe)
