Margan put a fair amount of work into this well priced chardonnay. 20% of the fruit fermented in new French oak for 6 months.
Margan, Chardonnay, Hunter Valley, 2017
This wine heads well into the savoury end of Chardonnay aromas with spicy twiggy oak, sandal wood, fig and mandarin citrus. Spice driven and balanced with cardamon, cedary oak, browned butter and lemon curd. All underpinned with thrust of youthful acidity to keep it buoyant. Medium term cellaring is an option or match it now against a scallop and mushroom risotto.
