Shingleback, The Gate, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2016
Pencily, dusty, vanillan oak with a medicinal herby green peppercorn spice over blackberry, choc-strawberry and dark raspberry. Dry and dusty palate profile as well. Fruit is secondary to texture with fine grained tannins that infiltrate each corner of the palate. A very good, savoury expression, but just missing a touch of x-factor.
