The lighter framed cousin to Nebbiolo from the spiritual home of Piedmont, yet certainly not a lesser wine in this example.
S.C. Pannell, Barbera, Adelaide Hills, 2017
Deep cherry and mulberry fruit, light bakery goods, tobacco leaf, liqueur/kirsch and a little peppercorn spice. A wine of silky texture: berry and cherry with a neat wrapping of oak. A little fine tannin as is varietal, yet brightly lifted. Super enjoyable.
