Paxton, Pollinator, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2017
The colour, a deep garnet with a bright rim of ruby. Plush aromas: red plum, raspberry, vanilla and chocolate with a steely vein of minerality. Interest certainly comes from a smoky nuance and a (perhaps psychological?) suggestion of honey. The palate at once both full and light. Bright and focused, buzzing (pardon the pun) with energy. Tannins are elegant, supple and malleable, weaving their way around the quality fruit. Very good persistence and depth, a wuality wine.
