Vin De Soif roughly translates to “A Thirst for Wine.” The 2017 vintage was “known as the wettest vintage on record, with cooler than average days and nights” making for a lighter structure to the wines. A blend of 38% whole bunch fruit: Grenache, Mataro and 5% Carignan.
Yelland & Papps, Vin De Soif, Barossa Valley, 2017
Peniclly pine spice with bright cherry, raspberry and red currants, milk chocolate/liquorice “bullets,” boysenberry ice cream, lightly toasted fennel seed with a little cherry danish pasty. Plays daintier than its stated ABV, offering plenty of crunchy red fruit brightly cutting through a slightly sapid body. It’s tart, it’s fun, it’s got crystalline edges to meaty depth. Mature playtime and an easy glass to drain.
