One of the icon wines for Grant Burge Wines. Usually the Shadrach contains Eden Valley fruit however, with the 2016 vintage being so good, this is somewhat of a rarity as Winemaker Craig Stansborough has only used fruit from the Barossa Valley proper. A first for the label. Already a double trophy winner having being entered in shows as a pre-release.
Grant Burge, Shadrach, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa Valley, 2016
A little opulence from the outset: Smooth blackberry conserve with shiny black olive, “mint slice” chocolate and fresh tobacco with hyper fine gauze-like tannins. Just enough of Cabernet varietal leaf. Barossa Cabernet can sometimes be fruit forward and lacking in depth, however here the initial fruit quality works in tandem with an excellent structure that will age very gracefully. A very fine release.
