One of the icon wines for Grant Burge Wines released last week to the market on August 27th. Winemaker Craig Stansborough has used a little whole bunch in the fermentation with fruit coming from old vines and some of the much sought-after centurion (100 year plus) vines.
Grant Burge, Meshach, Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2016
This is a deep, complex, layered expression of Barossa Shiraz. With reams of dark and red fruit, distinct cocoa and spices (cloves, cracked pepper, cinnamon) it offers an intense and tightly grained palate. This seems almost impenetrable now in youth, yet manages to retain lightness that carries the fine tail a long way. Excellent.
