2020 marks Tahbilk’s 160th anniversary this year, but celebrations have had to be delayed. The grapes for this Pinot Gris are harvested later and riper ensuring a “French” style of wine.
Tahbilk, Pinot Gris, Nagambie Lakes, 2020
Pale salmon to rose gold hue coming from obvious time on skins. Rich soaked pear, peach tea, waxy hotel soaps, citrus zest and an almost smoky ham off the bone meaty richness. Broad and weighty with surprisingly shrill acid to close through the finish. Has toothsome phenolics that add more depth and crunch.
RRP: $21.30
Alc: 13.5%
Rating: 17.75/20 (91/100)
