Berton Vineyards, The Black, Shiraz, SEA, 2018
Opaque and deep garnet with a bright rim. Oak spice hits hard: vanilla bean paste and sharp cedary notes. Black fruits: berry and cherry. Peppercorn and yeasty darkness with richer protein heavy blue cheese hints. Plenty of grunt and give. Reams of dark fruit with piquancy and raspy tannin. Runs a little lean through the finish for higher points, but still offering plenty of value.
