Taltarni in western Victoria have a reputation for long lived wines. This wine will do little to debunk that theory. Bottled under cork.
Taltarni, Reserve, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pyrenees, 2019
Bright and alive in the glass. Starts out a little obtuse, but air and time sees the dial shift for this classic “Australian” blend. Layers and layers: Focused blackberry, briary leaf, crushed peppercorns, blueberry, some meaty depth, camphor, choc mint, crushed bluestone, bitumen and cedary oak. Well blended. Showing life and lift in the medium-full body. The tannins build a wonderful frame to house earthy black fruit with a long length of flavour. Complexity, drive, intensity, care. A 20 year option.
