Que Syrah, Syrah….whatever will be (Shiraz) will be. Stylistic intent to the fore with the naming. Gorgeous packaging representing the geology of Macclesfield, at the tail end of the Adelaide Hills.
Longview, Macclesfield, Syrah, Adelaide Hills, 2020
Bright bright rim! Initial meaty reduction, before blueberry muffin, steel, white pepper, lipstick, gunsmoke, red licorice and milk chocolate wrapped wafer biscuit (choose your brand name for any of that style of chocky bicky). Silky and supple, cool to the tongue: flowing seamlessly with fine tannins, bright lift and abundant spice. With the initial reduction, this was tasted over a couple of days and it eventually came into its own: don’t be in a hurry to crack this one, or if you do: give it plenty of air.
