The first release from the Burton family’s Gundaroo vineyard, made in an off-dry style (41 grams per litre of residual sugars)
Gundog Estate, Gundaroo, Riesling, Canberra District, 2021
The sweetness stands out on the nose but presents as a crystalised lime and ginger attraction rather than anything confected. Almost Germanic Kabinett mode. Refinement and structure that maintains excellence in balance between the sugar and the piercing acidity. Carries itself with ease and leaves a visceral chalky trail to underscore the seriousness of the wine.
