Spending 86 months under tirage. A blend of Chardonnay (53%) and Pinot Noir (47%), The wine originally put together by Natalie Fryar, with Jennifer Doyle (long time Jansz vine whisperer) finishing this off. She’s recently taken the reins from Teresa Heuzenroeder (who took over from Nat Fryar).
Jansz Tasmania, Late Disgorged, Pipers River, 2013
Still a youthful pale gold colour and fine beading. Rich and layered with nougat, earthy truffle, preserved lemon, briny roast chicken skin, smoky toasted nuts and creamy butter wrapper. Profound, deep and remaining still youthfully sharp. The extended time on lees brings complexity and power which will continue to develop over the coming years.
