Keeping to 4% wild ferment and around 14% of the Viognier fermented in aged French oak. The Marsanne similar in treatment.
d’Arenberg, The Hermit Crab, Viognier, Marsanne, McLaren Vale, 2021
Aromatic and thick. Lavish slices of apricot stone fruit with ginger and lychee, tropical fresh pineapple pieces, barley sugar and a little mushroom cap earthiness. Spiced and warm, a comforting winterish white with textural flesh to wrap around fine, crisp bones. Finishes dry. This label continues to be good value for the price.
